Print, Ebooks, Audio, OH MY

Pamela Tracy here, and this year I decided to keep track. Yup. I'm curious about 'how' I read. Never before have I had so many choices. Never before have I utilized so many choices. I blame being ridiculously busy on the fact that I don't always get to cozy up in a comfy chair with a cup of hot chocolate. Hmmm, maybe I should blame my six-year-old.

Here's what I've done so far this year:

Audio: 2

Print: 7

Ebook: 5

Audio: I've only done two audios, both long, and I listen to them during my hour drive back and forth to work. First I did The Time Traveler's Wife - which I started in print and couldn't seem to get past page two. I love, love, loved it in audio. Right now I'm nearing the end of The Virgin Queen. I mention they're long because I'm finding that it takes me forever to read a long book, even if it hooks me. Doing it in the car solves the problem. So, library, there I come!

Print: Hands down a pint book is my favorite and with few exceptions, I get to pick what I'm reading. I just finished The Cowboy's Family by Brenda Minton.

Ebook: For me, this means Kindle. Yes, I'm guilty of taking advantage of all the free books. Good news, one author, Lorena McCourtney, hooked me when her publisher put a free book up, and yes, I did go and purchase her backlist and was not disappointed. It hasn't taken me long to realize that even on the free books I have to look at the publisher because there are a lot of self-published books being offered for free. Right now I'm reading one, and so far, it is the only gem I've found.

So, how about you? How would you fill in

Audio?

Print?

Ebook?

And, what have you know about how you read?

I haven't read or listened to any audio books but I have read

18 print books and

9 ebooks some one the computer and some on my new kindle.

I love my new kindle as its easier to read pdfs and easy to take away but I love the print books too as I can share them. Also some books like the LI books we cant get in australia in ebooks for about 2 years after they are released (something to do with copyright laws I would guess),

Jenny,
So you're at 27 books read. Cool. I'm only at 14. I love to read. I find myself trying to find the time. I feel like a kid chasing after a balloon, sometimes getting that string and thinking all is right, and then losing it again and again. LOL.
Do you like reading books on the computer screen?

Jackie,
You're tied with Jenny at 27. I really need to catch up. Glad you stopped by!

Pamela reading on the computer has challenges depending on the book some I really get into and its good others I found harder to read on the computer. Now with the kindle I can read them on it. Some pdfs still are not the best on the kindle. I found with the computer I could read and watch tv at the same time with a click of the mouse and for some it was the only way I could get the book.
Im amazed at how many books I have read this year. I think the nicer weather helped too. This week will probably be a slower reading week. I normally read more in Summer than winter.

Mary Rose,
Glad you stopped by!

Sidne,
What do you mean a slow-paced red? I'm curious. I'm wondering if that's what the Time Traveler's Wife was? I really couldn't get into the print version.

I don't think I will ever want to replace my books with audio, kindle, etc. I love receiving a shipment of books, and I love holding a book in my hands, turning the pages, and glancing back at the cover. I am such an avid romance reader. I have been since I was about 13, and I will
be 56 in June. I mostly read Love Inspired now. Don't care for graphic details and love the LOve Inspired books. Please keep writing. Opening a book is my way of escaping everyday stress.

Susan G,
Sharing books is a real treat. It's how I discovered Mrs. Mike.

Pamela Bradley,
Great first name btw. I agree, there's something about opening a book. Book covers give, as do books. The Kindle is hard. The iPad doesn't feel like a book at all, but I love reading it at restaurants because it's at a slant.

I do love a real book too and sharing but love the kindle as there are books I can get that I cant get here in Australia or I get sent pdfs to read which I can read on the kindle also review books some wont sent to Australia but will send a pdf for us to read. So the best of both worlds and some I have read on the kindle I will get in book form to share.

Ausjenny,
I feel exactly the same way.
BTW, our next neighbors (or shold I saw ex) just moved to Australia, but I'm not sure where. She was telling me the price of a gallon of milk was 8 dollars. Is that true?

Ausjenny said...

Ok a gallon is 4 litres roughly so I would say yes. we are having milk wars at present but if you buy half a gallon its around $3.50 depending where you are a litre or quarter of a gallon is close on $2.00
Oh and a gallon of gas is around $6.00
When I was in Hawaii I was amazed at the cost of lots of items even at the convience store like a can of soft drink (coke) 80cents we pay $2.50 - $3.00 or more. some things were dearer but alot was cheaper.
