So much for multi-tasking!

Hello from Lisa Mondello. School is finally out. I had another child graduate from high school and two others finish the high school year on Monday. End of the school year means paperwork and lots of it! Not only do they bring home lots of "stuff" from school, we need to get paperwork ready for the next year.
This is why I love the fact that so much paper we used to push is going digital. I love that Harlequin is releasing all our books in ebook form. Now no matter how old the book is, you don't have to worry about it being out of print. If you discover a new author and want to go back and get her/his backlist, you can!
I was on the wave of the first ebook push years ago when my first books were published. I owned a Rocket ebook reader and loved it! (My tired eyes mostly loved being able to change the font size.) Now there are so many more ebook readers on the market. For those of you who love the feel of paper on your fingers as you read, I understand. One of the things I always wondered about is if the concept of physically visiting a bookstore would end if we eventually went all digital. I love going to the bookstore and spending time walking the aisles and just looking. It's much harder to browse on line and get that same experience.
But I do love technology and now that both the Nook and the Kindle have dropped their prices, I'm seriously thinking of taking the plunge and getting a new ebook reader. (Yes, my old Franklin still worked and I couldn't justify buying something new...until now.) Nook and Kindle aren't the only books on the market. Sony has several models and I just saw in Barnes and Noble an advertisement for another ebook reader. The name escapes me at the moment.
So tell me about your experiences with ebook readers. Have you given any a test drive? Do you own one? Which is your favorite and why?
Until next time, many blessings, Lisa Mondello

I never thought I'd be a convert to e-reading until the hubs bought me a Kindle for Mother's Day last year. I love it! I'm all about instant gratification and being able to access a book I want anywhere, anytime...but I also love how light it is and how "friendly" it is for someone who's been addicted to books for my whole life. It was a very easy transition from paper to e-ink.

For me, it was between the iPad and the Kindle. They both looked great, but I figured that the only thing that I wanted it for was for reading. That tipped the scales for me towards the Kindle. I love it! I have the latest version and a lot of people have complained about how it's too heavy, but I think it's pretty lightweight. Good luck with your searching!

I enjoyed your ebook debate about whether to update your Franklin. My hubby, techy that he is, has been pushing an ebook purchase at me since they first came out . . . now it's the Ipad push. I love the feel and comfort of paging through a book and have resisted. However, I'm looking forward to hearing about your update decision and maybe the pros and cons???

You know, I always thought that I'd miss the feel of a book. But Truthfully, when I get into a story, I don't care what form it's in. I just want to keep reading.

I went to a wedding over the weekend and a cousin of mine had the Nook. I really, really liked it. And since they just dropped the price, I'm thinking I'm going to save my pennies and get that one.

Congratulations on graduating a child, Debby! I'm sure you cried as much as I did!

Lisa,
I never thought I'd want a Kindle or a Nook...but times, they are a changing. Now, I'm thinking I might have to make the leap.

Maybe.

But I do like the feel of books.

Yet...changing fonts sounds nice.

I'd be able to clean off my nightstand that has all my To Be Read books piled high. Hmmm? The Kindle is looking better and better.

Technology does have its advantages, Deb. The TBR piles are out of control in this house. (Notice I said piles!) I love the idea of being able to have a library in my hand.
