70 years by Leann Harris

Yesterday was a milestone. It had been 70 years since Auschwitz concentration camp was liberated by Russian troops.  Many stories of survivors were told in the newspaper and on TV specials.

I can only admire those brave souls who survived and the others who didn't. You have my respect and admiration.

The discovery of Auschwitz is one of the high and low points of world history. That one human being could inflict that kind of cruelty on another human being is hard to wrap my brain around. But also the care of the prisoners one for another and then the care of the liberators is a candle in the dark. The story breaks my heart.

Shirley, that is true. With the cruelty, there are countless stories of those who stood against the wrong.

I read The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom and it was hard to fathom all they went through.
