Christmas In October
Hello, Terri Reed here. I can't believe Christmas is only 73 days away!! Here's a link to a countdown you want to keep track: http://www.xmasclock.com
I have two books out this month, both are holiday themed.
Identity Unknown is a fast-paced, edge of your seat romantic suspense. A man with no memory is marked for murder. A female deputy sheriff with trust issues is determined to learn the truth. They must work together to uncover the past and stop the threat or they won't live to see Christmas Day.
A Family Under the Christmas Tree is a charming, delightful story to warm your heart. A man juggling sudden parenthood of a five-year-old and a growing business doesn't need the distraction of his neighbors granddaughter. A woman with wanderlust is determined to keep her heart from growing attached. A matchmaking grandma and a rambunctious dog conspire to form bring these two together.

Investing in Ourselves
Terri Reed here, do you ever have those days where nothing fits? The shorts that I bought a few months ago now won't button. The dress I planned to wear in a few weeks is too tight. Being a writer requires copious hours sitting in front of a computer, which doesn't lend itself to physical activity--unless you invest in a treadmill desk. I'm seriously considering this but they are sooo expensive and I don't know if it will work for me or not. I have issues with motion sickness so I usually stay away from treadmills and such. Though I've heard you walk at such a slow pace that motion sickness shouldn't be a problem. I have also considered acquiring a height adjustment desk that slides up and down so I could work standing up for periods of time.
But the main thing for me is I need to get out of the house and exercise. I was doing pretty well for a long time--I went to the gym everyday for Pilates or Zumba. But then I had some minor injuries and health issues that prevented me from going. And now that I'm doing better its so hard to get going again. I'm determined to get back in shape. Or at least lose the inches I've gained.
I love to dance so I'm off to Zumba now. Its an hour long.
I tell myself I can invest an hour in my health.
Its important that we invest in ourselves so that we have the energy, emotional and physical well-being to invest in others.
What do you do to invest in yourself?
On Sale NOW! Oh, and stop by my webpage at www.terrireed.com and comment. I have a present for one commenter between now and July 31st.
LONE AGENT
Under other circumstances, FBI agent Samantha Bennett might welcome a bit of backup—but not from an overprotective Mountie. When Royal Canadian Mounted Police inspector Drew Kelley saves her life, he decides that the hunt for "Birdman" is his problem, too. Together they begin a cross-continent chase to stop the madman before he strikes again. However, Samantha fears her growing feelings for the lawman may weaken her focus, or worse—put Drew directly in the killer's sights…

To celebrate my new release I'll be guest appearing on several blogs throughout the month of July. If you would like to see my blog schedule you can stop by my webpage to sign up for my latest newsletter. I have several interview type blog posts as well as sharing some behind the scenes information about this book and also sharing a recipe for a Summer Fruit Treat.
Also stop by my webpage sometime between July 7th and July 31st and comment to enter in a giveaway I'll be doing on my webpage.
And stop by Goodreads to enter to win a copy of Joint Investigation
I can hardly believe July is upon us. I have taken four writing related classes this year and have more coming up. I believe strongly in continuing to improve my writing and my research. I just finished a class through Writers University-- M.A. Taylor's "Law Enforcement: Making Your Cop Real".
It was fascinating. The instructor was informative and knowledgeable. She went the extra mile for the students by contacting other agencies with questions from the class. She even contacted Scotland Yard!
I'll be heading to New York City in the later part of July to attend Romance Writers of America's national writers conference in the heart of the city.
Then in August I'll be heading to the mid-west for the Writers Police Academy conference to learn more about the men and women of law enforcement, emergency personnel and fire fighters. I signed up to ride in a fire engine. I wonder if they'll let me drive it?
I wish you a wonderful, safe and exciting Independence Day!

Capitol K-9 Unit Series and Prayers for Houston
Terri Reed here on this gloomy day here in Oregon. I've been watching the news this morning with a heavy heart over the flooding of Houston. I'm praying that lives are not lost. This has been a strange year for weather. Here in Oregon we didn't have a winter. Usually we have a few days or weeks of freezing cold but this year the weather stayed mild while other parts of the country were hit with blizzards or droughts. We supposedly had record rains here in March but it didn't seem that much different to me than any other year.
On another note, the Love Inspired Suspense continuity Capitol K-9 Unit is doing well. The first three books have been released and the fourth will be released next week. If you haven't had a chance to read them, they are still available on the Harlequin website or on Amazon. You can search the sites by author name or by title to find the books.

Fall into a Giveaway!
Hello Terri Reed here. It's fall and that means the leaves are changing and falling.
I have a huge oak tree in my front yard. It has been featured in the local newspaper as a heritage oak.
This time of year it become a lot of work. And this is only the first of the season's racking and piling.
By the time we're done we'll have all the leaves in bags to cart off to the debris recycle place.
Fall also brings tricker treaters to our house. I love to see the kids all dressed up.
This is throw back picture to when my kids were young and like dressing up. I'm not sure who my daughter was but she sure looked cute. And of course Spiderman is always a hit.

Celebrating Fall and Giveaways and a New Release
Terri Reed here enjoying the fall weather. It's been so warm in the Pacific Northwest or maybe it's just me. I love fall! The changing colors, the cooler weather, the pumpkins everywhere I look. I made myself a homemade pumpkin latte this morning with pumpkin flavored almond milk, a splash of vanilla almond milk, a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg and really good Australian coffee that my husband brought home with him. Macaron anyone?
Terri Reed here talking today about Macarons. I recently discovered these French confections. I would never have guessed how much I like them. This photo is from a local restaurant here in the Portland Oregon area. I ended up taking home six of the flavors. I'm NOT going to eat them in one sitting. Really, I'm not. :-) and if I keep saying that, maybe I won't. But I'm on deadline so maybe I will. I picked a few new ones to try (coffee, raspberry, cherry, and blueberry) though Salted Caramel is my favorite, and I do enjoy the Almond and the Lemon as well. Have you tried a Macaron?
Do you have a favorite flavor?
