Saying Goodbye is Hard To Do

Susan Sleeman here with a happy yet bittersweet moment. This past week my latest book, Dark Tide released, but it's the last book in my Justice Agency series, and I'm sad about that. For the last few years I have been working on this series about five adopted siblings all working together in a private investigation agency and I've enjoyed every moment of it.

Though I'm happy to have the final book release so readers have the last sibling's story, I think of my characters in a my books as friends. That means I'm saying goodbye to the Justice family and  it's so hard to do.

What about you? Are you sad when a favorite series ends? Do you think of the characters as friends, too, or is that just something an author does?

Susan,

It's hard to say goodbye to characters from one story. I can only imagine how hard it must be to say farewell to those who have peopled five books. At least they will live on in your stories and you can crack open the pages and visit them from time to time.

I'm always sad when a favorite series ends. I want it to keep going so I can see how the characters' lives continue! I know it unrealistic but that's how I feel! They become real people to me!

Hi Jackie, Susan and ladies! I hope everyone has been experiencing some taste of spring.
There are some characters that I can't get out of my mind and don't like to give them up. I like series that revisit those characters that you are attached to.
Susan, Was a title decided?

Yes, Jennie a title was chosen for my November book. I loved the one you submitted, but my editor chose Silent Night Standoff.
