Olympics Sleep Deprivation :)

Missy Tippens, here. Okay, let's see a show of hands... How many of you have dark circles under your eyes because you've been staying up late to watch the Olympic Games?
My hand is held up high. I've been making a point to get all my work done each day so that I can reserve the nights for watching the games. And boy, what fun and excitement! And yes, even tears. Who didn't cry last night after Joannie Rochette of Canada finished her figure skating event? Her mom died of an apparent heart attack on Sunday, and Joannie knew her mom would want her to pursue her dream, to go ahead and compete. So she went out and did the performance of her life. And then she wept. Oh my goodness, I was sobbing along with her! Such a heart wrenching, moving story. One of many for these games.
I'm always inspired by the Olympics and the athletes. What about you? Have any stories of victory or defeat or personal triumph particularly touched you?

Missy, I'm a fan of the Winter Olympics. Oddly enough in my big family of athletes and sports nuts, I'm the only one, but I love the idea of the Olympiad, the competition, the coming together of countries, the friendships.

Wonderful and super inspiring for an author. Great stories, ripe for the picking!

And I've always wanted to ride in a bobsled.

Really.

Ruthy, did you see the bobsled crash last night?? The German women. On my goodness, you'd change your mind if you'd seen it! It was SCARY!

Glad to see you're up early this morning! :)

Hi Missy,

I really enjoy the Winter Olympics but I've missed more than I've seen this year. I'm touched by the athletes' stories of overcoming with courage and determination. But the Canadian skater losing her mother at the Olympics has to be the most heart wrenching. God bless her.

Hi Missy,
I started to watch but had a family emergency. Everything's okay though. I do love the Olympics both summer and winter, and try to watch as much as possible and marvel at their abilities. So yes, I have dark circles under the eyes, too.

Janet, you know I think the networks know they can't just show event after event, so they focus on those personal interest stories. And it makes it that much more enjoyable to know the athletes personally.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hey, Kim! I think being on the east coast is what makes it so difficult for me. We're on Eastern time so the coverage doesn't even start till 8 pm.

Oh my goodness, you've got that right, Missy!! I'm exhausted! I can't stay up that late and then be expected to be ready for school the next morning ; )

No really, I can't!

It's been really great to watch, but it really stinks that it starts so late...

Yeah, Hannah, I get up with my kids for their school, so I totally understand!

Hi Missy, Love the Olympics and I'm like you, I cried when I saw Joannie Rochette break down and cry. The bobsled incident was scary.

I loved how you compared writing to the Olympics on the Seekerville Blog the other day. We have to persevere through the trials and tribulations also. We have our own deadlines and goals to accomplish no matter what life circumstances come along.

Thanks for that Missy.

Thanks for stopping by, Sandra!

Cindy, I'm not good at ice skating either! It amazes me how the athletes move on ice better than I move on land! :)

Dark circles here too, In the East Coast, sad they are done, but happy I can go to bed early.

Here praying that Jopannie has a good support network around her.
