Hey guys! I was recently just listening to my MP3 player and it cycled to one of my favorite songs, “Gold” by Britt Nicole. This was one of the songs that inspired me as I was writing Gone Missing.
Joslyn, my heroine, was from a poor background, so she was working at an electronics store in Los Angeles and putting herself through school in computer programming.
When she got involved with her ex-boyfriend, who murdered her father, she ran away to Oregon. She lost her baby and the woman she was working for helped her through that ordeal. The woman also talked a lot about Christ to her, and so Joslyn has been seeking Christ more and more.
She’s lost a lot and has gone through a grieving process after her father was murdered and she miscarried her baby. She had to leave school and her job to run away from her ex, so she has to start the school year all over again. At least she’s able to work for Liam and Elisabeth in Sonoma, California, at their new skip-tracing agency rather than trying to find a new job.
She’s grateful to Liam and Elisabeth for saving her and for bringing her into their “family” in Sonoma after the loss of her father. She is a good team player and only wants their business to succeed. Her job for them teaches the the skills she needs to try to find her friend, Fiona, in Gone Missing.
Through out the story, Joslyn learns that she’s not alone, no matter what she’s done, no matter what has happened to her. God loves her deeply, because she’s “worth more than gold.”
When I was writing the book, that was my prayer for you, my reader. I pray that when you finish the book, you’ll also truly feel God’s love for you and how he values you as something infinitely precious to Him.

Splinter faith and pre-order splendor

Okay so I know that title was kinda cheesy...but I'm headed out the door to visit my granny Veda in the hospital.
God literally breathed life back into her a couple days ago. The extended time we've been given with her is a precious gift and I want to go treasure her. Hold her hand. Hear her voice. Make her laugh with silly stuffed dogs that wiggle and giggle. She also has a little clacker rabbit that bounces across her bedside table and causes her to smile.
For more of that story, visit my personal writing blog here.
In other news, my next release is up for pre-order now. Wahoo! Steadfast Soldier is a June release...my goodness this year is flying by. Here are some links if you're interested.

Borders
Or you can Google it.
It will also hit store shelves around May 26-June 1 or so. For those of you who follow the Wings of Refuge Series, this is Chance's story.
I'd love to know what good trait or traits that one or more of your grandparents passed down to you or to one of your siblings or to your children.
I think I have my granny Veda's ornery sense of humor. So does my Aunt Linda, her middle daughter. My niece has her selfless generosity. My mother has her kindness and gentleness and her unconditional understanding. My sister and my aunt Anna (her olded daughter) have her tenacity. My children and some of my cousins, Joey and Jodi have her high cheekbones, courtesy of her American Indian heritage. And by marriage, my dad inherited her fishing skills. Unfortunately I did not. LOL!
And today, we all have her. Just her. Live. In person. Not yet only a memory. I can't begin to explain how overwhelmed with thankfulness I am to have been given more time.
If you've lost your grandparents, you are deep in my prayers today. May God bless you with many happy memories and with the hope of Heaven that Jesus gave us when He made a way for us to reunite with our loved ones. Heaven will be one enormous family reunion, yes, but I'm also glad to treasure time and their essence this side of eternity too.
If you don't live close to your grandparents or your parents, get offline right now and call 'em. LOL! Tell them you love them and languish in the sound of their voice. If they're close in proximity or geographically, get over there and hug them a little tighter and a little longer today. :-)
Thank you for supporting our blog with your readership.
Don't forget to share what good qualities you or your family members inherited from your grandparents. I'd love to hear it in the comment section.
Have a wonderful day.

Unexpected Lesson on Believing God's Love

Cheryl the Wyatt here.
Can you believe it's August already?
Seriously, can you?
How do we KNOW FOR SURE that it's August? I mean, really...how can we know?
Most people would answer: because the date on correspondence or on calendars on our walls or in our pocketbooks or purses or on our phones or computers or other electronic devices tell us so.
The Bible is like that. You can read it and take it for what it's worth, which is everything. It's utter and complete truth. But when it comes to God's love, I think it's easier for us to believe it on a mental or psychological (mind) level rather than a heart level. Believing at the level of the heart means a deep resolve of doubtless knowing.
I had an epiphany this week. I have a friend who I love very much. This friend is like a sister to me and she has a heart of gold. But sometimes her woundedness won't let her believe in my love. We have an unseen enemy who prowls around and who will take every opportunity to whisper in our ears about each other. This friend, while miles ahead of me in some ways spiritually, struggles with believing in the enemy's lies. He will say things to her like, "Cheryl hasn't called you in a week, so she must be mad at you."
And even though I tell the friend that I've just been covered up time-wise, she still has a hard time believing that my friendship is unwavering and that I care deeply about her and that she can't do something bad enough to make me stop loving her. I've had this friend for years but it seems lately that she's had more difficulty than normal fending off the enemy's lies regarding our friendship. I have convinced and condoled and reassured and shown practically my care for her to the best of my ability.
This week I experienced a rare moment of frustration over the fact that no matter what I say or do to prove it, she just won't choose to believe me over the enemy who is a liar and an accuser of the brethren (or in this case, sisterhood). I was going to say sistern, but that made me think of cistern. LOL!
Anyway, when I was at my wits end, I felt God say to me that I've done everything in my power to prove and to show her to the point that I'm bone weary. And it's now up to her to believe. And belief is a choice.
For one instant, I felt a tiny sliver of the pain that God must feel when He shows and tells us He loves us through a gazillion different ways continually, yet we doubt.
I do it. I imagine some of you do it.
I pray for you/us that we can take God at His word. When you don't feel His heart and His love, don't lean on your emotion. Believe what He says about Himself over what you feel, because your heart (feelings) will deceive you.
God will not. Not ever.
It's really August.
The Bible is still true.
I hope you will share one way that God has demonstrated His love for you this week. What you say may encourage others who may be in a season of struggling to believe God's love.
Especially when hard life stuff comes along to bite you in the caboose...GGG
Have a wonderful week.
Warmly,
Cheryl
