Yes,
it’s only October, so maybe these snowy scenes seem a bit premature to you? But
with my Love Inspired November release The Pastor’s Christmas Courtship already
spotted on retail shelves (and Arizona mountain country experiencing a dusting
of snow on the highest mountain tops), I couldn’t resist!
.
As some of you already
know from having read my books, this part of Arizona isn’t all desert heat and
saguaro cactus. At a 7,000 ft (and higher!) elevation it’s a beautiful
ponderosa pine-studded four-season region--which makes it such a fun place to set
my stories. Especially a Christmas one!
.
Have you started thinking about or even
preparing for the upcoming holidays--Thanksgiving, Christmas, the New Year?
.
If
you’ve started preparations for Christmas, what might those entail? Making a To
Do List and checking it twice? Gift shopping or making handmade gifts and
decorations? (Don’t you just love the craft and fabric stores this time of
year?)
.
Perhaps you’ve picked up holiday-themed magazines for ideas and are reviewing
your recipe file for family favorites? Or maybe your community or church choir
is preparing for a cantata or a presentation of Handel’s Messiah? Have you been
tempted, as I have, to read a Christmas novella to get a tiny
taste of this most wonderful of seasons?
.
What is your favorite Christmas
tradition?
.
In The Pastor’s Christmas Courtship, the heroine finds herself reminiscing
about family traditions and gatherings held at her now-deceased grandparents’ mountain home.
She’s retreating there for a healing time alone and to get the place ready to
sell—never expecting that her former crush would be back in town or that her sisters
would insist she provide their children a Christmas at the cabin just like the
ones they used to love themselves.
.
I hope Garrett and Jodi’s story gives you a
taste of this most wonderful time of the year!
.
Happy soon-to-be holidays!
Glynna
.
Jodi
Thorpe’s childhood vacation cabin seems the perfect place for her to heal her
broken heart…and avoid Christmas cheer. After twelve years, nothing in Hunter
Ridge has changed--except Garrett McCrae. The bad boy who was once her secret
crush is now the town minister. And Garrett won’t let her miss out on all the
hope and joy the holiday brings. With
every day he’s drawn to the vulnerable woman Jodi’s become, even as he’s about
to leave for a mission halfway around the world. But as they grow closer, their plans begin to
change. Can Garrett make it a season to remember, with a love they can’t
forget?

Love your pictures of snow! I look forward to this time of year every year!
I miss snow.
You know you can always bundle up, but you can only take off so many clothes.
Funny how we are both in Arizona and the weather is so different in both locales.
I have your book and am excited to read it. (Love getting books early in the bookclub).
Hi, Sally! You're a winter lover, are you? The Arizona mountains are big draws for downhill and cross-country skiers. I've done the latter, but not the former. Some of the horse places even feature sleigh rides. Doesn't that sound fun? :)
See you in Seekerville!! :)
Hi, Tina! Thanks for stopping by! You miss snow, but I bet you don't miss SHOVELING IT or DRIVING in it. :) Amazing that we only live a few hours apart, yet such a contrast.
Hope you enjoy the book! I spotted it at Walmart earlier this week!
Beautiful pictures of the snow, Glynna! Here in NE Georgia, we don't get much snow..if any at all. Love the cover of your new book...will look for it this week at Walmart!
See you in Seekerville!
Congratulations on your latest release, Glynna! Your story sounds great.
My family has pared way back on Christmas gift giving, putting our focus on experiences instead. Sure makes the various services, parties and activities at church and elsewhere take on greater meaning.
I have been cranking the Christmas music already, which isn't normal for me, but that's because I'm writing my first Christmas story for LIH. Gotta get into the spirit early.
Hi, Jackie! No, I guess Georgia doesn't get a lot of snow--seems like you get some really nasty ice storms, though!
Hi, Keli!! That's a great excuse to listen to Christmas music early--RESEARCH! :)
Keeping the focus on the true reason for the season is always a good route to go and it sounds as if you're on top of that!
I love the photos, Glynna! I love the holiday season and can't wait for it to come! I just saw your book in a store yesterday! Haven't bought it yet but it certainly got me in the mood for the holidays! It's definitely fall here in Oregon and that puts me in the mood for the NEXT season!
Hi,VALERIE! Glad my book is making its way across the country and is already in Oregon! My last book never showed up in my local Walmart (nor did any of the other Love Inspired books released in May), so that was very disappointing and lost sales. Authors who don't sell an adequate number of books don't continue to get contracts, so I was relieved to see this book and all the other LI November releases are out here now. Whew!:)
Sorry for the misspelling VALRI! Foggy brain. Wasn't quite 6 a.m. here when I wrote that and I've been up for hours finishing AAs for my May 2017 book, "The Nanny Bargain" -- it's the story of Sunshine Carston's best friend Tori Janner and Echo Ridge Outpost owner, Sawyer Banks. :)
No problem on the spelling, Glynna! I'm SO used to it - it's happened all my life! I'm sorry to hear about what happened in May. I've been lucky that wherever I've lived, I've always had the LI's! I guess my local Walmart DID get the LI's or maybe I bought the books somewhere else that month (did ANY Walmart get them?) because I usually buy them every month! Anyway, I can't wait to read your new book and any other books you write! :)
In my part of AZ, we never get snow. We have to drive two hours just to play in a little. Your cover is gorgeous!
Hi, VALRI! Yes, other Walmart stores did get the May books, just not some--like one of mine! So glad you enjoy my books! :)
Hello, PAMELA! You definitely need to head to the Northland for snow play! The county has contracted with a business to put in a new snow play area at Fort Tuthill (the county park that is at the I-17 exit to the airport). I THINK it's supposed to be ready, at least in part, for the winter of 2016. The county hopes to alleviate some of the traffic problems that are created along the road to the Snowbowl ski area.
