Camy made clothes!

Camy here! I hope you don’t mind, but I wanted to show off a little. I just finished knitting this sweater! I love it so much—mostly because it’s pink!—but also because I actually made it! I made clothes!

The pattern is actually based off of two vintage knitting patterns published in 1945 and 1952. The lace pattern is from a pattern for a chemise underwear that women made to stay warm. Knitted underwear gave extra warmth when women had to wait at cold bus stops and train platforms to go to work, especially in the years during and after World War II.

The rest of the pattern was based off of a classic “jersey” (sweater) pattern.

Here’s my Ravelry page if you’re interested in my knitting notes.

Isn’t this neat? I feel like my grandmother as I’m knitting with these vintage knitting patterns.

How about you? Any knitting or crocheting projects you’re working on?

Congrats. I started to crochet a blanket for my niece's wedding. She's been married 30 years and the blanket is half done and in the garage.

Well done! I knit mostly dishcloths and sometimes socks (small projects!!), but I just finished a bulky scarf for one of my daughters-in-law. It's still winter here in Wisconsin!

I love that sweater! I don't knit, sew, or anything lol.

ap - I love doing skirts! Id like to try one using thinner yarn so that it drapes better.

Becknit - thanks! Actually, it wasn't really that much work. It went pretty quickly. :)

Leann - LOLOL I bet she'd still appreciate it if you finished it.

Cathe - I love bulky scarves! I did a cowl in creamy bulky wool that I took with me when I traveled to England a couple years ago.

Sally - that gives you more time for reading! :)

Sadly I'm lacking in the talent department. I'm just grateful that I'm able to mend buttons and small holes. :) Jenny

I am soooo impressed. You rock :) I crochet and make things too. The only thing I'm not impressed with are the crocheted swim suits. Nope, not for me.

My favorite things to crochet are baby blankets, hats, and doll clothes.

I want to make one of the neck cowls from Outlander.

Very pretty color and style.

I casted on for a knitted hat but it's in the closet. I was just thinking about returning to the project. I have the materials I need to crochet a bracelet. I'll have to get to it.

Beautiful job on the sweater! I crochet and knit. I have done some clothing but I tend to do afghans and such. I have done some pillow covers. It is so relaxing to sit and work with my hands that way.
I have some of my grandmother's knitting and crochet patterns dating back to the early 1900's.
