Pride and Prejudice ... Aaaaaaahhhhh

Camy here, and I’m just up from a FIVE HOUR MARATHON of the BBC miniseries Pride and Prejudice!

I can’t say enough about how much I love this miniseries! It follows the book really well and the script is terrific and the actors are fantastic!

I watched the 2-hour movie version a few months ago, too, but didn’t like it as well as the 5-hour version. The actors were good but there were things about it that I didn’t quite like, which made the movie not as euphoric an experience for me as the 5-hour version.

So how about you? Have you seen both versions? Which one did you like better?

Camy! I loooooooove the BBC version. I try to watch it at least once, sometimes twice a year. Ohhhhhhh, Mr. Darcy. Colin Firth is incomparable in the role. I also love Jennifer Ehle in the role of Elizabeth. I can't read the book without picturing the two.

Thanks for the reminder. Might have to make it three times this year. ;-)

Hey Camy,
I am yet to see this! Can you believe it? I keep hearing things though, so I'm definitely going to have to try and find it...

Did you see my comment on your blog about Sushi for One? It was fantastic!!! REALLY great. Can't wait for the next one!

Camy,
Without a doubt, the BBC version is the best. I liked the 2 hour version, but it can't be Colin Firth or Jennifer Ehle.

Have you seen the new Emma?
It's great. Loved it.

Now I want to see the BBC version. I have watched a bunch of different ones over the years. BBC has done several over the decades. I love Colin Firth in almost anything.

I LOVE the BBC version! I mean, Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy! Who could turn away from him?

I know what I'm going to be watching tomorrow night!

I always like the longer versions better because they get more detail in them. But, nothing is ever better than the book itself and I'm glad I read the book first.
Unfortunately I saw "Sense and Sensibility" so many times before actually reading the book that now I can't even read the book because it is so much like the movie that my mind always just jumps to that. So I refuse to let myself watch any other Jane Austen inspired movies until I read the book first. :)

No question, it's the Colin Firth version! Hands down. The new 2005 version has its good points, but Keira Knightley is a horrible, horrible Elizabeth. Take her out of the film and it's ok. She ruined that film.

My 11 year old son is a Jane Austen junkie. He'll come in from playing basketball and request that we watch P&P! I've trained him well.
