A Yurting we will go!

Okay, I will admit it. I'm a bit of a prissy girl. Not overly but enough that the very idea of camping, as in a tent and cook stove gives me hives. Thankfully my husband isn't into camping either. And until we had our kids, my husband and my idea of roughing it was not having reservations. But when you have kids, you want to take them to the great outdoors so they can develop an appreciation for nature. My parents did that with me, only we stayed in a trailer so even then we weren't really camping. Here in the Pacific Northwest we have these wonderful things called Yurts. I grew up in California and had never heard of one, but when a friend explained what they were, I was all for it. The futon style beds inside aren't the most comfortable, but they are off the floor. The round, walled structure has a heater, electricity and table and chairs. There are several parks throughout Oregon and Washington that have yurt villages. The yurts are relatively inexpensive and I'll admit it, a fun way to enjoy the outdoors.

I could handle camping in a Yurts. Can't do the ground anymore, plus other issues. And they are in the heart of nature. Splendid!

Hahahaha! The yurts sound so cool! My sister and I used to spend a couple different weeks(at different times!) camping in the summer with our aunt and uncle. We stayed in a lean-to with cots, so we were also cheating. Unfortunately, our aunt and uncle moved to Maine. So, we can't go camping anymore. We are both in high school, so a fun part of our childhood is lost. Our mom won't take us camping!!
Thanks,
Hannah

Those look really fun! I (might) could go camping in a yurt. Once. ;o)

Hannah, you'll have to start making a list of all the things you want to do when...

Indoor plumbing?
Terri,
You need to come visit my family. I'll take you camping. Oh, and who says having a trailer is not real camping. I saw Pish.

Steph,
A list of things when... What? I think you mean when we can or when we get out of school? I;m not sure. If you could clear that up for me, it'd be great! : ) Do you comment on this blog often?
Thanks,
Hannah

Carmen, yurting is the best! You have to try it.

Hannah, you should see if the state parks near you have yurts. Maybe mom would do that. But not to worry. You have your whole life ahead of you to try camping. You sound like you're close to your sister. That's so great.

Stephanie, you have to at least try camping once, if for no other reason than to say you have.

Pam,LOL, no, the yurts don't have indoor plumbing. But its just a short walk to the community showers/bathroom. Not ideal but it works.
Well, here in Oregon we're surrounded by die hard tent, backpacking campers, so a trailer isn't really roughing it anymore than the yurt.
I'd love to come visit you, not sure I want to camp but I'm sure there's a hotel nearby.

I do not believe that we have yurts in central Vermont! Or anywhere in Vermont, come to think of it! Hahaha! I'll check and see...
Yes, my sister and I are close. I'm 17 and a junior. Alicia is 15 and a freshman. I can't believe that she's going to be a sophmore! AHHHH! Hahaha!

I looked it up Terri! There is ONE place in Vermont where you can rent a yurt. It is in the Northern Central Green Mountains near Burlington(I bet you don't know Vermont very well, do you!?). This means that it would be over 2 hours to get there. Maybe someday!
Hahaha,

Hannah,
A dream list. Things you dream of doing. :)

Terri, we went camping with our kids a few years back, in a pop-up camper in a two day torrential rainstorm. It was so much fun!

These days I look for hotels with room service. (Not that I get them, LOL!)

I grew up in California and loved going cramping with my Mom and Aunt. Now I'm married and have 2 teenage girls sadly we live in the LA area and no one can leave their home and come back to your home with everything still inside the gangs will break into it in no time. I would love to try camping in a yurt villages sounds fun, we would have to get someone to camp in our home to keep it safe!

Hannah, I don't know Vermont but would love to see that side of the country. And maybe find that one yurt, LOL
My daughter will be a sophamore this year, too.

Penney, sounds like you live in a rough area. Stay safe.
My husband grew up in LA. We almost moved down there before we had kids but then God blessed us with a baby and we stayed in Oregon.

Steph,
I kind of make "dream lists" in my head. Fortunately, I have been able to experience big dreams already! My family(grandparent's, mom, sister, aunt, and I) have traveled to Ireland, Isle of Jersey, Isle of Guernsey, Holland, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Germany in the past 3 years. We will be going to Wales, back to the Isle of Jersey, and France in July(this summer). I have also beeon to more than 20 different states, Canada, Mexico(really briefly), and the Carribean! My grandparent's always say that my sister and I are "well-traveled" and like to explain us to people as "the world-travelers". Hahaha! They crack me up! I am incredibly fortunate, though. A huge travel dream for me would be to go to Italy. My dad is very Italian(our last name is Cerasoli...). I would love to be able to experience that culture.
Thanks,
Hannah
